- What is POV-Ray?
POV-Ray is the freeware raytracer that I use to create all my 3d images and animations. You can find more information, and also download the program from here: http://www.povray.org.
- I have a problem with POV-Ray. Can you help me?
If it's a problem related to one of my include files or other ressources on my site, then send me a mail and I'll do my best. If it's a general POV-Ray problem not particularly related to anything on my site, then you'd be better off asking in one of the POV-Ray newgroups, where a whole community of users will be ready to help you, instead of just me. - How do I make an MPG animation with POV-Ray?
There exist several programs that can take a series of images and turn them into an animation. I use the free program TMPGenc ( http://www.tmpgenc.com/ ) which I find to be both powerful and easy to use. Alternatively (and especially if you don't use a Windows platform) you can have a look at the IRTC Animation FAQ: http://irtc.org/anims/faq.html
- I have made some images/animations with POV-Ray. Can I send them to you?
If you want comments and constructive critique, you'd be better off sending them to the relevant POV-Ray newsgroups (see http://povray.org/resources/), where there's a whole community of users who will see them, instead of just me. However, if one of my include files or other ressources on my site were used for the images/animations, then you're more than welcome to send them to me, because naturally I have a special interest in that. Alternatively you can also send them to the POV-Ray newsgroups and drop me a mail notifying me that you did so.
- How do I make a stereogram?
There are tutorials on my website for creating the depthmap and the tiled image. To combine them into a stereogram you need a special program for that. Check the links on my stereogram page.
- Hey, can you make for me this cool image/animation/game/stuff that I'm thinking of - for free?

I love your Particle 101 photo. I am a very small flower shop and would like to use this photo on our business cards as part of a background. Would this be ok. I would be adding flowers and things to it. Also if I bought a web building program and I see this has an animation to it. I don't know anything about this web program as I just bought it. Hi Rune,
I love the Locomotion work you've done, however I'm developing a game for the iPhone (my first and I'm sure it's not the first time you've heard that ) and I'm more interested in the method you are using to make the character walk on the surfaces.
I'm wondering if you have a tutorial for this? It's some nice looking work.
I have built a scene and I'm using the iPhone FPS setup, I've offset the camera from my capsule as I test right now, preferring this to the PlayerRelativeSetups which don't automatically orient to the character.
I've added your PhysicsCharacterMotor script to my character and have tested in various states. When I turn gravity off globally, my controls don't function correctly anymore.
When I turn the gravity back on globally and use the Centric Gravity as you have created, I find that my camera is stuttery (i've added your time controller script) and when I run up walls I don't get the same results you get. Gravity pulls me gradually down and I immediately start to lose control of my camera orientation and forward/backward as well as side/side motion.
Hoping to learn where I am off base or if you have any literature I can read on the subject.

Hi Rune,
Since you are the developer of 3d depth software,you should consider developing a software that would produce forced perspective using elements and layers
that the artist would use to produce a picture. Like a phantogram without the need for glasses or any visual aids. I know that there is a large market for this software and where that market is.

Indeed, if the first dimension were represented by a visible curvature only, it would be conceivable. Thus for every not plane continuum we can substitute a plane continuum of more dimensions

With the particle system, in particular the fire, is it possible to scale the system as a whole? I'm trying to make a small open fire in a scene where I have 1 POV unit = about 1.5m but the fire comes out too large. I've tried the fire_size variable but low values just seem to thin the fire out rather than scale it down.

I have an idea for the use of hologram technology to assist with camouflage when hunting. My idea would be to have a portable hologram unit that would upload photos taken with a digital camera and project them over or in front of the hunter as camouflage while sitting and waiting in an advisable position for game. Hi guys. I've been reading some of the comments on here and would just like to let you know that I have created approx 370 new levels that I've categorised into 5 levels of difficulty ranging from lesson thru to extreme. I need to find an outlet tho where I can upload them to so that others can get a hold of them. I've also made a batch file which makes it easier for people to laod the game with their choice of levels and also to change the module along the way which I will include with some instructions if you wish to alter it to your personnal requirements.
I was surprised to read some of you are having problems running Jetpack thru DosBox. This is how I run Jetpack and to date it has worked fine. If you don't like the smaller screen you can press Alt/Enter to go to full screen.

Went to heaven a few times. I have seen images that are unspeakable along with colors. The one tunnel resembles the one an angel took me through to get there. I passed away for 3.5 hours in a hospital and came back to life in the CMICU (Critical Medical Intensive Care Unit)... I guess, no one just dies and shows up there un-announced... Whenever I look at your stuff, I think two things. 1: That must take an eternity to render. 2: My stuff needs some work.

Great great great animations. I´m using the "particle"-system. It´s fantastic. But how can I make an explosion/fire fade away instead of being seen in one frame and invisible in the next frame? The explosin starts small, but can it end just as a little bit of smoke that finally fades away? Thanks a lot.

Pretty damn good site, better than half of the others out there.
BTW: The RuneVision thingy, for Game Maker 5 you have to go into the scripting and edit what the error says. Just in case anyone was having trouble.
Otherwise, this is porbably the best site out there! Especially for resources and ideas.

I have looked at other sites containing a lot of Game Maker stuff but they mostly contained examples, like teaching how to make a sprite, or how to make a menu screen..... ZZzzzZZZzzz lol, thank god I found a site where someone actually made USEFULL programs. keep up the good work!!!

Wow, I was blown away! I stumbled upon this site looking for good depth map techniques (as I had been using Paint mostly), and was impressed by the tutorial. I've continued visiting and was introduced to POV-Ray which is truly a remarkable program particularly in the hands of a master artist like yourself. I've had some fun with it myself now. Thanks.

Rune, thank you very much for your particle system. I'm new to the 3D world of animation, but enjoying it, especially with freeware. I now have to learn Pov Ray 3.5, so it may be some time before I'm able to provide feedback. Your animations look professional! Thank you!

I love the site. Keep the graphics coming, but I was wondering if maybe you could insert other websites like this in a links section. I know you have multimedia but just maybe some other sites too. Not to say this one is awesome of course.
